Altamura OP presente the new line for Rucola PGI of Piana del Sele

The rucola of the Piana del Sele obtained the PGI certification last November and is grown according to the regulations of the Protection Consortium, in the associated farms of the territories of Pontecagnano Faiano, Montecorvino Pugliano, Bellizzi, Battipaglia and Eboli. Among these, there is also the Altamura O.P.. The new line produced in the Pontecagnano Faiano plant will enrich the assortment of first-rate products that the Op sells on the national and international market.

Alfonso Altamura, president of the Altamura Organization and member of the board of directors of the Consorzio di Tutela della Rucola IGP, says: “Our productions are in an extremely fertile geographical area, thanks to the particular climatic characteristics and the soil of volcanic origin. A recognition we were waiting for. for some time and that we can finally display on our packaging, a brand that certifies the hard work that all the farms in the Piana del Sele have done over the years “.

“Our salads – adds Fabrizio Todisco, trade marketing manager of Op Altamura – arrive on tables all over the world and for several years we have clearly marked the origin of the product on each tray: Piana del Sele, ie between the Amalfi Coast and Cilento. In addition to the geographical origin, it is now also important to enhance this important quality mark. This is because according to Eurobarometer n ° 504, only 20% of European consumers perceive and recognize an indication of protected origin IGP “.
